Two years ago next week, my mother left this world and I found myself a member of a club no one asks to join. Mother-daughter relationships are complex and complicated, yet regardless of how challenging one’s relationship with their mother, it’s still an indescribable feeling to find yourself motherless in this world.
A dear friend and gifted author, Lee Gaitan, gave me permission to share her eloquent article about her own initiation into this sorority. This blog is a tribute to our moms and a toast to all our sisters out there who travel this path of grief with us, all knowing the secret handshake and chapter song and wishing we were still just in Girl Scouts.
